    Associate Minister for Worship Arts

    Tom is in his final year of seminary at Pacific School of Religion and in his third year at Mira Vista. An accomplished writer, musician, and theologian, Tom preaches at least once a month and brings beautiful music and spiritual depth to his worship leadership among us. A native of Deadwood, South Dakota, Tom is also a well-known leader of Taizé worship, a contemplative musical tradition from France.

Diane Young, Office Manager

Diane Young is the glue that holds us all together! 

Diane is in the office Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. She is also a certified enrollment counselor for Covered CA where has been actively helping marginalized folks including recent parolees find health insurance and access to care.

Tim K. Murphy, Minister of Music

Tim is an accomplished pianist who has played for ballet companies for many years and is currently on the staff of Marin Ballet and is the accompanist for our sister congregation Arlington UCC in Kensington. He is well-versed in many genres of music and brings a wealth of experience providing music for diverse spiritual communities. Beyond bringing his musical skills to our worship, Tim is excited about the possibilities of the GOOD table and will help us grow our practices of prayer and contemplation through music. Tim also sings, plays the guitar, and has some facility with tablas and harmonium.

Tom Emanuel

Associate Minister for Worship Arts

Tom is in his final year at Pacific School of Religion and his third year on staff for Mira Vista. He is a brilliant writer, musician, and theologian who preaches for us at least once a month. A native of Deadwood, Tom is a member in discernment seeking ordination in the South Dakota conference of the United Church of Christ and will soon be seeking a call to pastoral ministry.

Rev. Dr. Melinda V. McLain, Pastor

Before coming to Mira Vista in September 2014, Melinda served a number of congregations in Northern California as a transition pastor or director of music. An accomplished vocalist, pianist, organist, and choral conductor, she is the lead musician for Wing It! Performance Ensemble in Oakland and has sung jazz with the Tom Dambly Quartet. She has also served in many settings of the United Church of Christ locally, and nationally as the chair of Evangelism and New Church Development in Local Church Ministries and on the Executive Council. Before seminary, she was an opera stage manager, political organizer, and public relations professional who worked for several non-profits during their inaugural year including: the Los Angeles Opera, the Feminist Majority, and as a chaplain with Marin AIDS Interfaith Network. She holds a B.A. in Music from Rice University, a M.Div. from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. in postmodern ecclesiology from Drew University. She is also working on a music theater piece about the American Dust Bowl entitled, The Broken Land. Read more here.
